## Daily Homework

## Reading Calendar |
Reading Homework3rd Grade students are expected to read 20 to 30 minutes at home each evening. Each month students will receive a blank calendar to record the number of minutes spent reading each day (see links to the left for copies of monthly calendars). At the end of the month, students are to tally the number of minutes spent reading and get a parent to sign the calendar. Calendars are to be turned in within a week of the last day of each month. |

## Math Facts Calendar |
Math HomeworkMath Facts: Students are expected to memorize all multiplication and division facts (0x0 to 10x10) by the end of 3rd grade. This accomplishment requires daily practice, both in and out of school. Throughout the year, students will be given guides and materials to take home and use to practice memorizing facts. 10 - 20 minutes of math fact practice is expected daily. Students should record the number of minutes they practice their math facts on the calendar they are given each month. At the end of the month, students will tally the total number of minutes practiced, have a parent sign the calendar, and return it to school (within one week of the last day of the month).Math Concepts: New math concepts are taught 3 to 4 times a week. Students will be asked to complete daily, short homework assignments to reinforce new learning. These assignments are due the following school day and will be reviewed together at the start of the next day's math lesson. |

**Spelling Homework**

Students are assigned a set of words with a particular spelling pattern or grammatical rule each week. New words are reviewed with the teacher each week and a Spelling Homework Packet is given to students to complete over the course of the week. Students are encouraged to

**do a small portion of the packet and practice sorting their words each evening**. Spelling Homework Packets are due on an assigned day of the week and will take a spelling test each week on that day as well. Due to the number of groups, and the fact that each group gets a new word list every week, I will NOT be attaching word lists on my website. It will be the student's responsibility to bring the word list home with them. I do provide the students with two lists, one stays in the classroom, and one should be taken home and stays at home to have for the homework packet.
